Erin Petson - Pandora's Box

I really like the layout and composition of this peice. the media used looks really nice aswell. i think it is called 'Pandora's Box' because she is playing with her fanny, or her 'box'.

Shopfront

Though it is probably obvious i forget who the designer is. i like it because of the use of space and composition. the contrast between illustration and design also works well for a shopfront.

Mark Taplin - Trust 02

I have chosen this poster because i have noticed a growing fondness of handmade type in the work that i notice. I think that mixing illustration and handmade type is the best looking Graphic Design, it is something that i would love to be able to do and influence in my work in the future.

Since gaining an MA from Saint Martins in ’98, Mark has become one of the most diverse and original media artists in London. Alongside his inimitable illustration he has directed several short films, created animation for Mother / MTV / Intro / VH1 / Playstation and worked with Abbey Road Studios on their DVDs and website. There is simply no mistaking Mark’s work and it is this which makes him so collectable and coveted by London’s top agencies and production companies.

Andy Potts

I love these two images because of the simplicity of them, the way that the intricut, carefully crafted type mixes with the same media as the images.

Andy Potts is one of the most creative illustrators i have noticed and has been recognised by a BAFTA nomination, an AOI award and the respect of just about every designer in the UK. His style is an original and very modern mix of photography, computer graphics, scanned textures and printing – which compliments his sense of humour and his uniquely intelligent approach to image making.

Kerry Roper - Riot is the voice of the unheard

This peice is cool because it has and really nice contrast of image and type. I love the type because it is handmade and looks messy. I would really like this to influence my future work.

Kerry Roper - A girl called Candy

This is somthing that caught my eye when i saw it first saw it.

Skateboard ad's

These are from the same clothing company. I think i mainly find them interesting because it is all photo based, nothing (bar the logo) is created after using any programs, which looks fucking cool and effective.

Surfboard ad's

These just looked really cool when my friend showed me a catalogue, they caught my eye because they were so different.

Rolling Stones

I saw this cover in the 'Hard Rock Cafe' in Barcelona in the summer, i thought it was cool. It made me laugh at first because he had a lob on and i thought the album was called 'Sticky Knickers' but later on i found out i was called 'Sticky Fingers', which still makes me laugh when i see it.ha.

I JUST LIKE IT.

Yeaaa.

Blanka.com

This illustration looks as though it has been hand produced and then finished on illustrator with a live trace or in photoshop. I dont think it is particularly clever but it really catches my eye. What makes me like it is the detail of the tattoo's.

Random

This peice was made by the same illustrator as the photo montage. It reminds me alot of Ralph Steadman's work towards the Gonzo period when 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' was created. It looks clever and i like the work, i think it is done on photoshop and doesnt look like there is much illustration invloved.

Fred Perry illustration (blanka.com)

This peice caught my eye because it made me laugh. It's not particulary clever and is produced on the computer, but i thought it was amusing.

POP ON POP OFF

These designs are so simple but the use of space and the composition are so effective. The type itself isnt fancy but it looks smart and contempory, which works really well. These designs are so simple that they catch your eye, which isnt ordinary to a normal design. Something that catches your eye is usually loud or extravogant. Thats why this will hopefully inspire me in later projects.

Recreation Creative Awards posters

These posters immedietly catch your eyes. They are for the creative award UK. They have communicated this effectively by having alot of flyers, postcards etc the shape of the UK or incorerating the shape of the UK into the design. These inspire me to create something different and away from the norm. The colours are amazing and the designs incorperate them really well.

Illustration Montage

This peice is a photo montage but it has a slight element of illustration. This inspires me becuase it is really creative but looks powerful and effective. The bold statement of all being black and white and having a large bright red arrow works effectively and really catches your eye.

Design UK posters

This peice caught my eye immedietly. It makes me want to go and do the same sort of work. Not creating posters through type, but through imagery. This image looks really effective, though it is very simple. It inspires me because it is different but it is so easy to recognise what it is, straight away you know it is about the UK.
