Museum Gestaltung Basel - Posters/Publications

These are some posters or publications from A German designer Museum Gestaltung Basel. The typography on them is phenominal and really eye catching. Really really simple but Im sure the grid is extremely complex.

The bottom one is my favorite.

Family Design

This is small publication from Family Design. They are based in the US I think, it doesn't say in their site but they have a blog called Raised In Carolina. It;s a really nice layout with every page bleeding over to the next so that its not a normal, formal layout to a book. Very nice indeed.

Ill Studio - Utopia Collection

Another shirt collection for Sixpack France. This is the type of thing I want to do. A series of shirts and a micro zine. Maybe an accompanying poster. I think that packs and collections of things are better than just one product. You certainly appreciate it more when you get it. These are really nice, photo montages with a micro zine accompanying them. Same design but in a book!

Ill Studio - "Spazio" for T-shirt Monthly

Simple illustrations work for these shirts. They are over a black black colour but not an image. The style of illustration is close to the one I am working with, simple and line. I think it works well on a shirt and is aesthetically pleasing.

Ill Studio - CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE / TRIBUTE TO CAN

This is another shirt by Ill-studio. It is the same kind of feel that I am going for as it is a large picture with a nice, simple, line illustration. This works in the same way as mine will. A simple line illustration over an image.

Ill Studio - Audible Visions

This is the shirt that goes with the Audible Visions CD from Ill Studio. The pack is nice in its self but its not what I am concentrating on. The shirt is really nice, the image is a cool one but the boarder for the image is nice also, it gives it something a little better than just leaving it. I really like the sticker on the pack also, it was something that I was playing with, putting the logo in a diamond. But i feel it would be too similar to this.

Jorge Leon - Passion for Cycling

A poster campaign for a cycling company in France. I really love the use of overlaid colours and and overlaid type and shape. It works really well with the strong images. It conveys the meaning of the posters.

Keller Maurer Design - Michaela Melián Book

This is a really nice layout. I was thinking that when I make my context book, the images from websites etc will be fairly low res, so if I keep a nice simple layout like this with small thumbnail pictures then it may work better once printed.

Museum Studio & Paper - Shirts and Prints

These are for the Six Pack exhibition "It Was on Earth I Knew Joy". I really like the prints that go with the shirts. The shirts have a quirky theme to them and are printed on nice pastel colours. The prints are silkscreened black. I like the idea of receiving a couple of things when your order something. Like a zine or a poster, it makes it all the more special.

Handsome Clothing Co.

This is an American t-shirt company. It's a nice small company that deals with hand made prints on shirts. These shirts are all about space and stuff like that. Most of the stuff they do is. The aesthetics are really cool and work well. Cut out in shapes looks nice too, a nice aesthetic to a strong design.

I want to do something with the pictures I have gathered and not just put them into a square on a shirt. Maybe some sort of shape or pattern would make it all a tad more interesting.

Onlab - Data Flow 2 – Visualizing Information in Graphic Design

This is one of the nicest and most contemporary pieces of graphic design I have seen recently. The first book was good enough but they have designed a new book which pushes boundaries and grids. I really like the way they have used different layouts for different pages. It makes perfect sense. The mixture of type image and diagram really works. I want to become more experimental within my layout design.
